An Insurgence of Dragons

BONUSES
WHAT ARE BONUS TRAITS?
Bonus traits (Bonuses) are special in-game perks or special traits that you can apply to your characters. They can apply to your dragons or human characters and give them a unique visual trait, higher rank, etc. However, most bonuses have a limited amount of slots (to convey rarity) and some can only be earned with seniority within the group.
* Bonus Rules:
Players are only allowed three bonus traits with a * per player.
Additionally, any bonuses with a * cannot be applied to a person's first character (human and dragon).
Finally, any bonus with a * cannot be held by the same person twice.
Bookkeeping bonuses are bonuses that have infinite slots and are merely around to help encourage activity in one's characters and participation in the group art and writing-wise.
Once you have assigned a bonus trait to a character, it is locked on that character. If that character dies, the bonus is lost and must be re-gained with new drawings or artwork.
Any artwork/writing may only be used for one bonus. (You cannot use a drawing for bonuses twice).
How to claim a bonus?
To claim a bonus for yourself or one of your own characters, you merely need to 1) meet the bonus requirements, and 2) submit the form below to the #project-bonus-exchange channel in the group Discord server. Attach links to any required artwork or writing (the "project"). (Currently, only artwork projects are listed for claiming bonuses, but if you want to do writing simply ask and we will suggest an equivalent writing project for a bonus! Be sure to show a good effort in your submissions, as they won't be accepted if they don't meet the requirements.)
Once you have been confirmed to have claimed the bonus by a staff member, you may consider it yours and apply it to any of your characters.

BONUS TRAITS
PHYSICAL-BASED BONUSES:
Albino (0/2)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: Disrupts any natural camouflage a dragon has. Character becomes light-sensitive (bright lights are painful, cannot be in the sun for too long without sustaining burns).
Required Project: Draw a fullbody scene of Lung Tien Lien (the albino Celestial) from the main series (must include full shading and a detailed background) and Napoleon Bonaparte or Prince Yongxing, and a fullbody chibi of Lien and Bonaparte or Yongxing.
Melanism (0/2)*

Notes: Disrupts any natural camouflage a dragon has. Character becomes heat-sensitive (gets tired and over-heated if in the sun or hot weather for too long).
Required Project: Draw a fullbody scene of Temeraire from the main series (must include full shading and a detailed background) and Laurence, and a fullbody chibi of Temeraire and Laurence.
Piebald (0/3)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: Disrupts any natural camouflage a dragon has.
Required Project: Draw Arkady and two other ferals from the canon Temeraire series. (You can use canon ferals like Wringe and Garney, or make up designs). At least halfbodies, shading, and a scene background is required, OR you you can do fullbodies, shading, and simple background or transparency.
Polydactyl (0/3)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: No more than 3 extra fingers.
Required Project: Draw 6 busts of characters from IoD, at least in flatcolor.
Rare Morph (0/6)*

Required Project: Draw a dragon from IoD hanging out with all its crew and its Captain (must have at least 1 crew member). Full shading and color required.
Unusual Mutations (0/6)*
Restrictions: Dragons only. Contact one of the admins to make sure your mutation idea is feasible before adding it to a character.
Notes: A small, purely aesthetic mutation outside the usual breed standard. For example, a Winchester with a fin down its back instead of a smooth back, a Grand Chevalier with catfish barbels, or a Yellow Reaper with overgrown teeth.
Required Project: Draw a scene of a character from IoD hatching and meeting their captain for the first time.
Mute (0/2)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: Humans with this trait cannot achieve rank above Captain.
Required Project: Draw three pictures; one of your own first character and their dragon interacting, and two of other members' characters and their dragons interacting. All drawings should at least be colored and shaded halfbodies for the humans and busts for the dragons.
Blind (0/1)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: This character cannot fight or be intentionally sent into battle. Blindness is extremely debilitating.
Required Project: Draw any captain and dragon from Temeraire in a full city or castle/fort scene, with fullbodies and complex shading. The drawing must include buildings and a 1800s city background, with lots of detail, though any city is fine (London, Peking, Paris, etc).
Deaf (0/1)*
Restrictions:
Notes: This character cannot fight or be intentionally sent into battle. Deafness is extremely debilitating.
Required Project: Draw any captain and dragon from IoD in a full city or castle/fort scene, with fullbodies and complex shading. The drawing must include buildings and a 1760s city background, with lots of detail.
Heterochromia (0/2)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: None
Required Project: Draw three sketch pages of different characters from IoD! At least two of the sketch pages must be for characters that are not your own, and at least one must be human, one must be done. Sketch pages should have at least 10 different sketches each depicting different expressions and poses for the characters.
Color not required, and the sketches can just be expression shots (headshots!)
Short Legs/Dwarfism (0/2)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: Severely impedes fighting ability due to lack of reach and ground movement speed.
Required Project: Draw at least three dragon-captain pairs in one faction charging into battle together! Scene or sky background is required, full shading and at least halfbodies for each character.
Weak Immune System (0/2)*
Restrictions: None
Notes: Easy for this character to get sick or injured, and takes extra time getting better.
Required Project: Draw a scene with two fullbodies of two dragon-captain pairs from IoD fighting each other on the battlefield; full shading and a scene background is required. Then, draw a chibi version of two different dragon-captain pairs from IoD fighting each other; flatbodies and a simple background is required.
Unharnessed/Riderless Dragon (0/4)*
Restrictions: Currently only available for the Native American faction. Middleweight or Lightweight Dragons only. Application will require a detailed explanation on how the dragon is connected to their tribe.
Notes: This character does not have a bonded human. However, they still are very strongly connected to their Native American tribe, and are NOT loners/ferals.
Required Project: Draw six different crew members (non-Captains) from IoD, at least four of which must not be your character. Halfbodies with shading required, and each must be in a different pose.
Teacup Dragon (0/2)*
Restrictions: Dragon only. Lightweights only. Slots must be filled by characters from different factions. Must be applied at character creation.
Notes: Incapable of fighting other dragons. This bonus is a strange mutation which causes a dragonet to be born at miniature size, and grow to only be about the size of a small dog.
Required Project: Draw five characters from IoD as babies or dragonets, of which at least three must not be your own. Fullbodies with at least flatcolor are required.
Relation to Historical Figure (0/3)*
Restrictions: Humans only. Must be applied at character creation. You must do research on the historical person you want your character to be related to, and indicate in your backstory how your character is related to them in a way that makes sense with the records of history.
Notes: None
Required Project: Draw the historical person you want your character to be related to, and the breed of dragon that you think they would be paired with if they were in a Temeraire novel. (Ex: If I want to make a brother of Hamilton, I might draw Hamilton with a Parnassian). At least a halfbody with complex shading is required for both human and dragon.
Young Captain (0/3)*
Restrictions: Humans only. "Young Captain" usable for captains of middle or heavyweight dragons.
Notes: A captain who has by accident bonded with a dragon that normally would be presented to an older, more experienced candidate, or who bonded with a dragon in an unusual manner as opposed to being presented to it by their faction's Aerial Corps or in a tribal ceremony. This allows you to make a captain age 16-20 when they acquired their dragon, instead of the typical age of 21+ they need to be when acquiring a dragon.
Required Project: Draw six characters from the Temeraire canon series as young children and dragonets (three captain/dragon pairs). Fullbodies with at least flatcolor required.
RANK-BASED BONUSES:
Senior Captain (0/8)*
Restrictions: Senior Captains must be at least 30 years old and have seen at least 3 actions (battles). Players must have been in the group for at least 4 months before their characters can gain Senior Captain rank. Human only. Must have a bonded dragon. Not available for females.
Notes: None
Required Project: Draw the major canon Captains in the Temeraire series: Laurence, Harcourt, Berkeley, Granby and Jane Rowland, with their dragons (Temeraire, Lily, Maximus, Isakierka, and Excidium). At least halfbodies with shading are required for all, or fullbodies in flat color.
Commodore (0/4)*
Restrictions: Commodores must be at least 30 years old and have seen at least 5 actions (battles). Players must have been in the group for at least 5 months before their characters can gain Commodore rank. Human only. Must have a bonded dragon of middleweight+ status. Commodores must have a personality that is amenable to leadership status (ie it has to make sense they would be a commodore). Not available for females.
Notes: One Commodore per Faction.
Required Project: Draw a comic of your character meeting their dragon for the first time, and either continue the comic as an overview of their life up until promotion (including joys and challenges) or continue the comic detailing a poignant moment of their life. Comic must be at least 10 large panels long and include shading and backgrounds.
Admiral (0/4)*
Restrictions: Admirals must be at least 35 and have seen at least 6 actions (battles). Players must have been in the group for at least 7 months before their characters can gain Admiral rank. Human only. Must have a bonded dragon of middleweight+ status. Admirals will be assigned a covert or fort to oversee and command. Not available for females.
Notes: One admiral per Faction.
Required Project: None, this rank will be given to a character owned by a dedicated and active player by the admins.
Vice Admiral (0/1)*
Restrictions: Vice Admiral of the Aerial Corps must be at least 35 and have seen at least 7 actions (battles). This rank is limited to the Patriots Faction only. Players must have been in the group for at least 7 months before their characters can gain Admiral rank. Human only. Not available for females.
Notes: None
Required Project: None, this rank will be given to a character owned by a dedicated and active player by the admins.
BOOKKEEPING BONUSES
Accessories (-/-)
Restrictions: For dragons only.
Notes: Wearing too many accessories will weigh down a dragon in battle.
Required Project: For each accessory, draw a sketch or lineart of how your character got that accessory (ie, what did they or their captain do to earn the capital to obtain that accessory, or how did they get that accessory if not by buying it?)
Extra Character Credit (-/-)
Restrictions: Must have at least one character already (a dragon/human pair or a human crew member). You can only purchase 3 of these total. You must have visual artwork for all your previous characters (can be commissioned or completed by you).
Notes: Gains you 1 new dragon/human pair slot, and 1 new human crew member slot.
Required Project: Draw one of your existing dragon/human pairs with at least flatcolor halfbodies interacting together, or if you do not have one, one of your existing characters interacting with another person's character.
Major Scar (-/-)
Restrictions: None
Notes: Disrupts any natural camouflage a dragon has. Any large visual scar. (Small/medium scars are free). Scars or holes on the wings of a dragon impede flying ability.
Required Project: Draw a bust of any IoD character with simple shading.
Missing Limb(s) (-/-)
Restrictions: None
Notes: A missing limb is a substantial handicap for a character. Dragons with a missing or heavily injured wing cannot fly.
Required Project: Draw a short three panel comic on how the character lost their limb(s). Sketches and flatcolor required.
Second Heavyweight (0/3)*
Restrictions: You must already have one heavyweight dragon character and have been in the group for at least 3 months. You also must have have an extra character slot available.
Notes: None
Required Project: Draw colored and shaded fullbodies of two canon heavyweight dragons from the Temeraire novels, and three heavyweight dragons from IoD, one of which being your own heavyweight. Art you have used for your application cannot be used for this project.
Spy (0/2)*
Restrictions: You must have been in the group for at least 3 months.
Notes: Your character's Allegiance is with one faction but they primarily live, train, and fight with another faction in order to bring information to the faction of their Allegiance. This allows your character access to areas they normally would not be able to safely enter based on their Allegiance. PM the admins secretly if you want to purchase this for assistance in staying...secret. However, if the faction your character is spying on finds out your character is a Spy, their characters will gain immediate permission to attack and imprison or kill your character.
Required Project: Draw a detailed flying animation with at least 10 different frames of a dragon from either canon or IoD. Fullbody and flatcolor required.
Female Aviator (6/? Captains, 1/5 Crew)*
You can only apply to this if you are applying for a female-only breed at this point in time!
Restrictions: Can be applied to your first character unlike other * rated bonuses.
Notes: Female Aviators must hide their identity in Western society to avoid public outcry (Native American society is more accepting of female aviators). Female officers often face challenges and misogyny from officers outside the Aerial Corps, which makes it unable for any female officers to be promoted to Senior Captain+ positions. This Bonus must be taken if you are making a character using a female-only bonding breed, and Captains must be paired with a female-only bonding breed. (eg: Longwing, Nunnehi). Female crew members may have an opportunity to bond with non-female only breeds later in the RP, but this is not guaranteed and at admin discretion.
Required Project: Draw a female aviator from the canon Temeraire series and their dragon (Harcourt and Lily, Rowland and Excidium, Emily Rowland and Excidium, Gentius and his first captain, etc). Drawing must include flatcolor fullbodies or a simple background scene with at least a shaded halfbody and detailed bust for the dragon.
Produce an Egg (-/-)
Restrictions: The two parent dragons producing the egg must be over 1 year old (fully grown). Female dragons may attempt to produce an egg once per month, determined by a coin flip. After successful production of an egg, incubation takes 1 month and 1+ months must pass after laying before hatching. Once a female has laid an egg, she cannot try again for another egg for 5 months.
Notes: Eggs will be placed in the mother dragon's faction, in the Hatchery. During the 1 month wait time, anyone may apply for the egg, though generally priority will be given to a parent player if this does not violate any other rules. Characters created from the egg must start from newborn dragonet age.
Required Project: Draw the two parent dragons together in a scene - at least halfbodies, shading, and a detailed scene background are required. Artwork MUST be PG13. If the first attempt fails, future attempts can be gained by drawing flatcolor busts of the two parents.
